William Farrington's photos capture the dynamics and energy of African music performance. Successful music photography requires an anticipation of a musician’s movements. The photographer must watch how the musicians move and anticipate future movements in order to capture a unique visual moment on film. William Farrington is one such photographer that has developed a knack for putting himself "in the position of the musician" in an attempt to guess what movement will come next in the hope of capturing it on film.

According to William, one of the most challenging aspects for a music photographer is finding and capturing that interaction where there is a significant musical and physical dialogue going on between musicians.
